The earliest known picture postcard was a hand-painted design on card, posted in London to the writer Theodore Hook in 1840 bearing a penny black stamp. He probably created and posted the card to himself as a practical joke on the postal service, since the image is a caricature of workers in the post office!
The Assemblage art studio has launched its latest campaign to print a set of limited edition post cards that have been designed by local artists. The best thing is that YOU get to vote which ones are printed. Just likey likey on the FB page and the top 10 will be available at the Assemblage Studios and selected Primi Piatti stores.
You only have 2 weeks so like like like and share.
End date for voting is 14 October and an exhibition of all the artworks will be held at the next Open Studio event on 13 November 2013.
Here’s a sample of what the resident artists have been up to….be prepared to be blown away! This is serious stuff.
